Spirotreptida sp. "Jambi", commonly known as the Tiger Millipede, is a docile, slow-moving species. Native to Sulawesi, Indonesia, it is a popular choice for hobbyists due to its striking appearance and social nature.


Key Characteristics

Appearance: They are noted for their distinctive banding, earning them the "Tiger" nickname.
Size: Adult specimens typically reach around 10 cm (approximately 4 inches) in length.
Temperament: They are considered very docile and can be handled safely, though it is important to wash hands before and after.

 

Habitat & Care

Environment: They thrive at temperatures between 22–24°C (72–75°F) and require high humidity levels, ideally around 80%.
Social Needs: Unlike some other invertebrates, these millipedes are social and can be kept in groups.
Diet: Their diet consists mainly of fruits and vegetables. To maintain a healthy exoskeleton, their food must be supplemented with a calcium source, such as crushed cuttlefish.
