Tirachoidea jianfenglingensis (PSG 208), also known as the Giant Jianfengling Stick Insect, is recognized as one of the world's longest stick insect species.

Physical Characteristics

  • Size: Adult females can reach body lengths of 240 mm, while males grow to approximately 190 mm. With their front legs fully extended, they can exceed 30 cm.
  • Appearance: Females are usually bright green, wingless, and have bulky bodies that may turn shades of brown. Males are significantly more slender and possess a full set of wings allowing for short glides.
  • Lifespan: They have a typical lifespan of around 18 months

 

Habitat and Care

  • Diet: They are generalist herbivores that feed on Bramble, Oak, Rose, Hazel, and Raspberry.
  • Enclosure: Due to their massive size, they require a very tall enclosure—at least 72 cm in height—to facilitate safe molting.
  • Humidity: Nymphs thrive in high humidity environments (70–90%), which can be slightly lowered for adults.
